Lambton Branch is one of 27 Branches of Ontario Ancestors

(formerly known as Ontario Genealogical Society – OGS). 

The Lambton County Branch is a non-profit organization of individuals interested in family history and genealogy.

The branch was organized in 1984. “Encourage, assist and bring together all those interested

in the pursuit of family history in Lambton County, Ontario.”

To be a member of the Lambton Branch, you must first be a member of the

Ontario Genealogical Society (OGS): Ontario Ancestors.

The 2026 Membership fee for OGS is $63.00, and the Membership fee for the Lambton Branch is an additional $15.00 per year.

The Ontario Genealogical Society was formed in 1961 to encourage, bring together, and assist those interested in Ontario family history.

and to preserve our Ontario genealogical heritage. 

Your annual membership will expire one year from the date that you joined.

  • A downloadable “Resources for Genealogical Research in Lambton County, Tools for Success, revised 2017), as well as a downloadable “Lambton County Research Checklist.”
  • Lambton Branch publishes a newsletter and also provides monthly e-updates to the membership. “Lambton Lifeline”, our quarterly newsletter, is sent to all members. It includes “Queries” (announcements of requests for information), research information, family history articles, library additions, upcoming genealogical events, and information about our upcoming meetings.
  • Membership entitles you to submit two free Queries to be published in “Lambton Lifeline” each year. Let our membership help with your research. 
  • New Members are encouraged to complete the “Early Settlers Form” if they have family that settled in Lambton County. This information will be added to our database and may help you to connect with others doing similar research. As well, complete the “Members Research Form”, which will be added to the Lambton Family Research Table.

  • Reduced Research Fees: Our research team answers research requests for both members and non-members. For members there is a fee of $15.00 per hour (minimum 2 hours) with the first hour being free.  A fee of $40.00 (for 2 hours) for non-members applies.  Fees must accompany the request for research.
  • Lambton County Branch has amassed a collection of over 900 titles, many of particular interest to those researching Lambton County families. While many have been digitalized hard copies can be found at the Lambton Archives in Wyoming, Ontario
  • All members in good standing of the Lambton County Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society will be treated as members of the Lambton Archives.

MEETINGS

Lambton Branch hosts monthly Education Webinars featuring guest speakers, open to both members and non-members.  These Webinars, on Zoom, are held on the second Tuesday of each month from February to June and from September through November.  Unless otherwise noted Webinars begin at 7:00 pm Eastern Time.  In December, the Branch hosts an In-Person Sharing and Social time at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sarnia, located at 1400 Murphy Rd. Sarnia, ON N7S 5P6.

Drop-In & Chat Webinars, on Zoom, are held on the last Monday of each month from January through November, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. At these informal sessions, participants are invited to join in the discussion.  Everyone is encouraged to ask questions, exchange ideas, get help with questions about researching their family tree or ask about available resources.   Both members and non-members can drop in to learn and receive assistance with their genealogy questions.

  • Note: There will be no Drop In Sessions held in June, July or August of 2026.  We will be back in September.
